Food resources
Many of you know I work on issues around hunger and food insecurity. During these difficult times some people are worried about how to feed their kids, or where the next meal may come from. There are some resources in our community, and this website can be used to find a food bank near you.
I have been working with Rep Steve Bergquist to set up this website: https://southkingfoodfighters.org/ to help connect existing resources with donations, volunteers, and needs. We have already raised over $1100 and will deliver our first meals this weekend. It is modeled on the work of our friends in Spokane, led by Rep Marcus Riccelli.
Our idea is to find the gaps in our community and connect those in need with resources. We are working with the Tukwila Pantry, Renton Chamber of Commerce, Communities in Schools, and local businesses. Here is a fuller list of nutrition resources for those in need in our communities. https://southkingfoodfighters.org/resources Check it out if you can.
